02/2005 - 06/2007, American Cancer Society, Enterprise Reporting Analyst/System Administrator
Architect reporting solutions for CRM, Human Resources, and Warehouse business units. Source systems: Siebel, PeopleSoft, Lawson, Red Prairie, Lotus Notes

Design and develop Oracle data marts, manage project implementation schedules, develop Business Objects universes, develop .NET web application interfaces.

Administered - deployed, configured, patched/maintained - the Business Objects Environment: Accomplishments include implementing:

  • Clustered production, development and QA environments: Improved system performance and allowed 75% more users to access the system concurrently.
  • A SQL Server repository on a Windows 2003 server: Stabilized the environment; decreased the number of unplanned outages from averaging 2/week to having just one in two months.
  • Row-level security: Adding security on the Finance data mart enabled nationwide reports to be published. Prior to adding row-level security, Finance users had to build separate reports for each division.
  • Broadcast Agent functionality: Enhanced user efficiency greatly by scheduling 100+ Finance reports to refresh daily. Prior to adding the functionality, Finance users had to manually run, save and deliver reports individually.
  • Auditing functionality: configuring Auditor provided visibility into which reports were being run, by whom and when. Enabled Management to consider more cost-effective alternatives to licensed software and led to the development of CRM operational reporting applications.
  • Enhanced CRM data mart by continually evaluating and adjusting the Siebel universe based on user feedback and auditing reports. The universe includes: 106 classes, 1324 objects, 51 conditions, 55 tables, 101 alias, 157 joins and 2 contexts.

Developed and maintained Business Objects universes for three business units: CRM, HR, and National Distribution Center. PeopleSoft is the source of HR data; Lawson, Red Prairie, and Lotus Notes are sources for NDC data; Siebel is the source of CRM data.

Created ad-hoc SQL queries to extract data from Oracle 8i, Oracle 9i and SQL Server databases. Advised DBAs by suggesting improvements to performance through the addition of indexes, views and tables. Delivered 7-10 high-volume SQL extracts/counts each week to business users.

Deployed Business Intelligence software applications: Business Objects 6.1b and home-grown .NET web application.

Used Visual Studio .NET, C#, XML, Crystal Reports and Oracle 9i to deliver reports with increased flexibility to the CRM user community.

Created SQL queries to extract information from Oracle 9i databases and provide functionality via a .NET web application to download the information in multiple formats.

Interacted with business users to gather requirements and to set deployment, training, and user testing schedules.

10/2003 - 02/2005, American Cancer Society, Support Analyst
Provided hardware and software support for ACS employees including extensive support for Business Objects and Siebel
